Enjoyed  opening for Gary P. Nunn at Angel's on Saturday.

It was a cool & beautiful night in the Hill Country. Had a big listening crowd, a lot of Gary P fans, so it was easy to get 'em going, Then, when he played, the place turned into a Texas dancehall scene, and of course, a rousing round of audience participation on London Homesick Blues, when he played his all-time favorite.

If you couldn't come you missed a great show, & we hope to see you next time.

Wyatt & Chuck Rainey, Bassist Extrordinaire

Picture
After dinner one night with Chuck at a Deep Ellum Blues club, being gracious, & well off, he volunteered to pay for our meal. But just before he went up to play his set, I happened to look down under the table, and there on the floor was a wallet. I opened it & found a driver's license with his name and photo on it. Here's the story behind this shot... I told my girlfriend, Claudia to get her camera out, and get a picture. As I stepped on stage, I asked Chuck if I could borrow a couple of bucks to tip the waitress. He said "Sure", reached back to his pocket and got this weird look on his face and said, "Man, I've lost my wallet!" before he panicked, I whipped it out and handed it to him. The smile of relief on his face was, well, the one in this photo.
Chuck is one of the best, & most revered Bass players in the world, having played with the likes of Aretha, Steely Dan, (all the cuts on Aja except one), and almost everyone else in the recording biz. Glad to count him as a friend. Unfortunately he had a stroke in 2011, and lost his ability to perform, but at this writing is doing better, and is getting his  chops back. It will be great to hear him on his next recordings. We will all be the better for that. Love you Chuck

Lucky enough to help design the Farm Aid t-Shirt this year. We used the giant portrait that I painted of him in 2010. Glad to help out the people who help feed America...

Let's get bluesy now!

A little bit about Wyatt...........................................................

Picture

It took a while to get in touch with my roots. For quite a few years I played a wide variety of music , rock, dance, country, jazzy instrumental stuff, always electric, always all-out, but narrowly, almost always a cover of someone else's song. But, when it got down to it, the roots of blues showed up in all the music I had been playing.
Since I've started earnestly writing original songs, my music has widened out to a more lyric-based, acoustic groove with a bit of soulful Texas blues-rock in the mix. Don't get me wrong, I can still rock it electric style too. Come see me at a music venue near you
